Bruce Peninsula

Bruce Peninsula - PEAK® Point Real Estate

Extending into the crystal blue water between Lake Huron and Georgian Bay is the incredible Bruce Peninsula. Pointing to Manitoulin Island, this 100-kilometre stretch of land is a place to enjoy in all seasons. The spectacular Niagara Escarpment creates rocky cliffs and spectacular waterfalls and the area is the perfect place to escape from the daily grind to peace and quiet and a slower pace.

Municipalities and Towns on the Bruce Peninsula

There are two main municipalities on the Bruce Peninsula: the Northern Bruce Peninsula and South Bruce Peninsula. Many charming communities make up the region. At the northern end of Bruce Peninsula sits the port village of Tobermory. Along Georgian Bay in the centre of the Bruce Peninsula is Lion’s Head with its sandy beaches. Towards the southern end of the peninsula is the vibrant community of Wiarton and Sauble Beach, which at 11 kilometres is the longest freshwater beach in the world.

Parks and Recreation on the Bruce Peninsula

Old growth forests, a challenging trail system, waterfalls, sandy beaches and sparkling blue waters make up the natural beauty of the Bruce Peninsula. Enjoy both the land and water in the extensive park system. For something very different, Fathom Five National Marine Park is a diving destination. In these clear waters, divers are able to view up to 22 of Canada’s oldest and best preserved shipwrecks. For those who prefer to staydry, glass bottom boats take visitors from Tobermory out to view the wrecks. On land, Bruce Peninsula is the site of MacGregor Point Provincial Park, Bruce Peninsula National Park, and Canada’s longest trail system, the Bruce Trail. Bruce Peninsula is popular for many activities from mountain biking, fishing and horseback riding in the summer to cross country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing in the winter.

Arts and Culture on the Bruce Peninsula

Not only is the Bruce Peninsula a natural playground it is becoming a destination for food and wine. With the many orchards and vineyards, there is a growing farm-to-table movement and a developing restaurant scene.

Bringing the community and visitors together are the festivals and events that take place year round on the Bruce Peninsula. Programs and exhibits are on the schedule at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre, and at Voyageur Storytelling, local personalities keep alive the unique art of storytelling in a home setting. The Bruce Peninsula Orchid Festival in the spring is a gorgeous celebration of flowers; and for pure entertainment, do not miss Wiarton Willie – the albino groundhog predicts how long winter will last at Wiarton’s Groundhog Day.
