Things to Do in Southwestern Ontario: Dining / Restaurants

In such an agricultural and outdoorsy setting, it is no surprise that Grey and Bruce counties are becoming a significant part of the local food movement. In this area it is possible to find everything from a local fish and chips stand to the highest standards of gourmet fare. Add to it restaurants with sweeping water views and a relaxed atmosphere and it’s easy to see why this is a region that is worth taking the time out from a day on the lake to enjoy the dining options.

Fine Dining

Five-star dining in a more casual atmosphere is de rigueur at The Falls Inn in Walter’s Falls. From their casual “Wingsday” for locals to three and five-course tasting menus, The Falls Inn focuses on local ingredients. The Applewood Inn in Miller Lake is also committed to serving local and organic ingredients in an imaginative menu.

International Fare

There is a global influence in the restaurants in Grey and Bruce and it is not hard to find menus representing Europe, Asia and Latin America. Stop by Casero Taco Bus in Sauble Beach that is part of the exciting food truck trend. Casero offers authentic Mexican fare so check them out on social media for their menus and specials. The Stone Orchid Restaurant and Shoppe in Tobermory specializes in authentic Indonesian cuisine and is known for its Indonesian Rice Tafel, an array of dishes that create a personal buffet. For a trip to Europe without leaving Ontario, enjoy dinner at Andre’s Swiss Country Dining in Port Elgin. A trip to the Bruce Peninsula isn’t complete without stopping at North on Six Restaurant and Catering in Lion’s Head with a menu inspired by the owner’s Ukrainian heritage.
